The Cape Vincent Arts Council is a nonprofit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to the arts and to bringing the Arts to CapeVincent.
We are pleased to announce that 2017 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the CVAC as well as the Breakwater Gallery, located beyond the Village Green. It all began when a group of volunteers got together to bring a series of summer concerts to the residents and visitors of CapeVincent. The “Concert on the Green” programs were such a success that in 1997 the Cape Vincent Arts Council was established as a non-profit agency in order to obtain state and federal funding for similar programs.Originally, the Concert on the Green series was aided by NYSCA decentralization grant money. We are happy to say that we are now able to support this and other programs through donations, memberships and advertising in the concert programs.
In its nineteen years the Council has grown to provide a whole range of art related activities for its members and the people of the Thousand Islands. We now sponsor an internationally recognized piano competition for young people, hold a town wide quilt show, provide arts programs for CapeVincent students, sponsor a book discussion group, sponsor authors at the annual children's book festival, Reading On the River, and provide a venue for poets and writers to share their works as well as other programs. We hope you will explore the website and that you will be inspired to support us with your membership and involvement.
