The 18th Thousand Islands International Piano Competition for Young People scheduled for September 11,12,13, 2020 will be postponed until September 10,11,12, 2021. This event is sponsored by the Cape Vincent Arts Council. Given the challenges of Covid-19 the competition planning committee decided it was in the best interest of competitors and attendees to skip this year.
Although there will not be any formal fundraising events, contributions specified for the annual event will be accepted at the Cape Vincents Arts Council. See capevincentartscouncil.org for donation information.
The committee wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all of our past volunteers……we will be looking for you again next summer!
The Cape Vincent Arts Council is a nonprofit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to the arts and to bringing the Arts to CapeVincent.
We are pleased to announce that 2020 will mark the 23th Anniversary of the CVAC as well as the Breakwater Gallery, located on Broadway Street. It all began when a group of volunteers got together to bring a series of summer concerts to the residents and visitors of CapeVincent. The “Concert on the Green” programs were such a success that in 1997 the Cape Vincent Arts Council was established as a non-profit agency in order to obtain state and federal funding for similar programs.Originally, the Concert on the Green series was aided by NYSCA decentralization grant money. We are happy to say that we are now able to support this and other programs through donations, memberships and advertising in the concert programs.
In its twenty years the Council has grown to provide a whole range of art related activities for its members and the people of the Thousand Islands. We now sponsor an internationally recognized piano competition for young people, hold a town wide quilt show, provide arts programs for CapeVincent students, sponsor a book discussion group, and provide a venue for poets and writers to share their works as well as other programs. We hope you will explore the website and that you will be inspired to support us with your membership and involvement.
